The Madison Digital Image Database (developed and distributed by James Madison University) is an open source web application which functions to manage, share, and organize digital image collections. The Michigan State University MDID installation contains a growing collection of more than 30,000 images driven by faculty requests, as well as a complete catalog of the Visual Resources Library DVD collection, and portals to collections hosted by other institutions covering a range of subject matter.
