In addition to the scholarships offered by Michigan State University, we offer a variety of merit and need-based scholarships in Art, Art History, and Design.
For students identified as need-based by Michigan State University, we offer scholarships for incoming freshmenn majoring in Apparel & Textile Design, Art History, Art Education, and Studio Art. When applying to MSU and indicating your intended major, you will automatically be considered for these scholarhips at application. Award of the scholarships is contingent on admission to MSU and evidence of financial need demonstrated by the FAFSA application. Scholarships include:
Art History & Visual Culture Scholarship | 4 year - $1,200 each year
Apparel & Textile Design Scholarship | 4 year - $1,200
Royer-Webb Endowed Studio Art Scholarship | 4 year - $1,200
Sally Swiss Endowed Scholarship (two offered) | 4 year - $1,500
Ralph Calder Studio Art Endowed Scholarship | 4 year - $1,500
Rohem Endowed Scholarship | 4 year - $1,500
Each year, the department gives up to three awards to our incoming freshman based upon their creative work. Winners are chosen based on high quality of artwork and potential as an art student at Michigan State University. Award of the scholarships is contingent on admission to MSU and evidence of financial need demonstrated by the FAFSA application. First place will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship renewable for four years, second place will be awarded a one-time scholarship of $1,500, and third place will be awarded a one-time scholarship of $1000.
We invite MSU applicants who intend to major in Art Education, Studio Art, or Apparel & Textile Design to apply for these scholarships by submitting a selection of 10 examples of your work. All submissions will be reviewed by our faculty awards committee to determine the scholarship recipients.
