Students enrolled in classes at Michigan State University in the Department of Art, Art History, and Design are invited to submit work from their studio art classes to the 2016 Undergraduate Exhibition held at (SCENE) Metrospace Gallery in East Lansing, MI.
Work(s) must be created in non-foundation level studio art course taken in the department during the summer 2015, Fall 2015, and Spring 2016 semesters. Awards will be given in the following areas: Ceramics, Drawing, Electronic Art + Intermedia, Graphic Design, Photography, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture.
WHAT ARE THE SHOW DATES?
The 2016 Undergraduate Exhibition will be on view at (SCENE) Metrospace from April 1 to April 24. The Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony is slated for Friday, April 1 from 6 to 9 PM.
WHAT / WHERE IS (SCENE) METROSPACE?
(SCENE) Metrospace was founded by the City of East Lansing in 2004, and continues to be operated by the Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University. Located in downtown East Lansing, it was founded in 2004 as a response to the "Cool Cities" initiative set forth by former Governor Granholm. (SCENE) Metrospace has maintained a diverse range of visual art exhibitions, musical performances, and other forms of expression since it's opening. In 2015 the City of East Lansing and Michigan State University joined forces to program and operate the space.
WHAT IS THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE?
Work must be submitted via the Entry Thingy online form by March 14, 2016 at 5PM.
HOW DO I SUBMIT WORK?
This year we will be using an online submission process. You are invited to submit up to three works per medium that are represented by images and/or video documentation. The entry system will also allow you to include one to three views/details for each piece you submit.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY WORK IS ACCEPTED?
Artists will be notified if their work is accepted to the show on March 21 via e-mail.
WHAT ABOUT INSTALLATION / DE-INSTALLATION?
Work must be delivered in person to (SCENE) Metrospace on Monday, March 28. Upon delivery of work, artists will be required to complete an exhibition contract with (SCENE) Metrospace that details the de-installation timeline. Artists identified to exhibit are responsible for the delivery and collection of their work within the stated timelines.
