Art History and Visual Culture Provost Match Scholarship

Students applying to Michigan State University for Fall 2019 admittance indicating a major preference of Art History and Visual Culture may apply for our area-specific Provost-Match scholarship award. We offer one award for an incoming major each year. The awardee receives $1,200 per year for four years. Funds are applied directly to tuition billing. Winners must demonstrate financial need as evidenced by the FAFSA and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to remain eligible each year.

The Art History and Visual Culture area faculty would like to see writing samples from incoming students to determine our scholarship award winners. Two samples are required. First, write a 1-2 page essay expressing your interest in art history, your experiences related to visual culture, and a description of a work of art that is important to you. Secondly, please submit a past example of a 5-10 page research paper (of any subject) from past coursework. Essays should be double-spaced in 12-point typeface with 1inch margins, saved as Word or PDF documents. Essays are due by 11:59PM on January 15, 2021.
